OLIVER #159 LATHE
GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.
The Oliver Machinery Co. of Grand Rapids was probably the greatest manufacturer of woodworking
machines. Oliver machines are still in demand long after the company went out of business. Oliver made
very heavy industrial machines and somewhat smaller machines for school shops. The model 159 was
sold to schools for decades. It is solid, easy to use and built to last forever.
This lathe originally was equipped wit a "Reeves drive' variable speed
mechanism. When I bought the lathe the drive parts were missing, so I
installed a DC variable speed motor and new pulleys.
