BANNISTER BACK CHAIRS
This is a fancier Bannister back made with turned spindles,
in the back.  which are split in two.  The rear posts are
steam bent to enable the back to slat at a five degree angle,
for added comfort. The chair is made of white oak.
This chair is similar to the splat back chair.  They
are copies of a set of chairs made in New York
State from 1740. They are made of white oak
barn wood  finished with black milk paint and a
water based varnish topcoat.
