L. ROBBINS LATHE
WORCESTER, MASS.
10" SPEED LATHE
This small lathe was
made by the L. Robbins
co, that operated in
Worcester Mass. In the
late 1800's. The
company was founded
by L. Robbins in 1887
and produced wood and
metal turning lathes.
This model is the 10"
swing speed lathe, and in
pictured in their catalog
of 1897. This fine
machine has brass
bushings and is capable
of producing turnings
about 24" long.
Here is the lathe after restoration. The cast iron parts were powder coated grey and the brass bearings were
polished. The lathe had been painted black, but grey paint was found under the black.
